WORKERS had to be evacuated after a suspected chemical leak at a farm in south Suffolk.
Firefighters were sent to Copella Fruit Juices Ltd at Hall Farm in Leavenheath, close to Stoke-by-Nayland on the Suffolk/Essex border, around 8.30pm tonight.
They were called after a gas alarm went off and indicated a leak of chlorine or ammonia.
Workers were evacuated but when firefighters arrived the monitoring equipment was indicating no hazard.
It is thought the alarm was set off by an electric voltage drop.
Crews from Nayland, Sudbury, Princes Street in Ipswich, Woodbridge, Haverhill and Holbrook all attended. They left the scene shortly before 11pm.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said they were aware of the incident but had not been asked to attend.
