TOMASZ Gollob put himself firmly into contention for the World title with a controversial win in the Czech Republic Grand Prix.
Former Witches star Gollob is just three points behind series leader Kenneth Bjerre after his Prague victory, with Jarek Hampel second overall after also finishing on the rostrum.
But the main talking point came in the semi-final when Andreas Jonsson, who had looked the likely winner, fell under Gollob’s challenge and the Swede was furious to be excluded.
Gollob’s manager Thomas Gaszynski said: “Every heat is very hard. It was hard because there are a lot of points at stake between the semis and the final. It was hard racing and you win some, you lose some.
“I think it was fair. Tomasz didn’t touch AJ that much for him to be able to fall down. You win some, you lose some. It was our night and we’re still plugging away.”
Meanwhile Russian youngster Emil Sayfutdinov faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a broken arm in a high-speed crash in Heat 15.
