MANCHESTER City star Adam Johnson “is not getting too carried away” amid rumours Fabio Capello is considering taking the winger to South Africa as part of his World Cup squad this summer.
Johnson has been in fine form for the Citizens since his January move from Middlesbrough and Capello could name him in his provisional 30-man line-up for the World Cup, which will be named on May 16.
But Johnson insists he is not letting the talk go to his head.
Johnson told the BBC’s Football Focus: “I was playing in the Championship in January and now people are talking about me playing for England.
“It’s nice hearing it but I’m still young. I just want to push on and try to be the best player I can be. You’ve got to keep your feet on the ground and not get too carried away.”
