CLOSURE notices for a number of Suffolk middle schools have today been published.
The notices will be displayed outside Stoke by Nayland middle and All Saints middle in Sudbury, which are to close, and Great Cornard middle and Uplands middle schools, which will be absorbed into the high schools that share their sites.
Their publication means the public now has a further six weeks to inform Suffolk County Council, which is responsible for the schools, their views on the proposals.
Graham Newman, the council's portfolio holder for children, schools and young people, said: “These proposals follow twelve weeks of public consultation last term.
“The public notices are part of the legal process relating to school reorganisation. Members of the public now have a further six weeks to let the County Council know their views on the proposals which form part of the School Organisation Review.”
“We remain 100% committed to improving education achievement and opportunities for all young people in the county.”
Anyone who wants to give their views on the proposals should write to: Phil Whiffing, Suffolk County Council, Endeavour House, 8 Russell Road, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 2BX.
The notices can also be found on the County Council's website at www.suffolk.gov.uk/sor .
