THE Lib Dems gained two seats from the previously totally Conservative dominated Great Cornard Parish Council in by elections, following the resignation of two Tory councillors.
Marion Press defeated Labour in Cornard North gaining over 61% of the vote while Tony Platt defeated the Conservatives with 58% of the vote.
A further by election will take place in April, at a date yet to be confirmed, to choose a candidate following the resignation of Tory Peter Beer, a former chairman of the authority.
