SUFFOLK: A Sea King helicopter from Wattisham Airfield was launched after a 22ft yacht started sinking off the coast of the Isle of Sheppey in heavy seas.
The RAF crew found the boat, Gwendoline, which had two people on board and was taking on water, after Thames Coastguard received a May Day distress call at 2.16pm on Monday.
The helicopter stayed on the scene until the Sheerness RNLI All-Weather Lifeboat arrived and put a pump on board.
The yacht was later towed to Queenborough where it was met by Sheppey Coastguard.
