THREE people from the east of England have died of swine flu in the last week, it has been revealed.
Since April of this year 11 people from the region have lost their lives after contracting the virus.
Latest figures published by the NHS East of England show an increase of swine flu cases in Suffolk from 770 cases to 849, with 60 people in hospital, ten of which are critical.
This is despite a national decline in cases.
There has also been a further three school outbreaks in the region, taking the total to 30 since the beginning of the autumn term.
