FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a chimney blaze in a Suffolk village.

FIREFIGHTERS were called to tackle a chimney blaze in a Suffolk village.

A crew from nearby Southwold attended the fire, in the chimney of a home in Dunwich Road, Blythburgh, shortly after 7.30pm last night.

Using small firefighting gear, they were able to get the flames under control in around half an hour before the blaze could spread.

Later, in Rushmere, crews from Colchester Road headquarters and Princes Street station responded to a car fire.

The fire was reported in Seven Cottages Lane shortly after 10.40pm and firefighters had it under control around 10 minutes later.
