Two crews from Colchester were called today to help release the nine-year-old girl's leg from behind a bar in the Charles Lucas Swimming Pool in Hawthorn Avenue.
Firefighters arrived at about 5pm and used a saw and wedges to free the girl, who is believed to have suffered a fracture.
She was freed by 5.30pm and then left in the care of paramedics, who took her to hospital.
