FIRE tore through a bungalow in Essex today, completely destroying the property.
The middle of a terrace of four bungalows was devastated by the blaze, which started at around 5.45am this morning in Ayloffe Road, Colchester
Firefighters from Colchester, Wivenhoe and Manningtree rushed to the scene to find the bungalow totally engulfed in flames.
The three adjoining bungalows were all heavily smoke logged as a result of the fire.
The fire was fully extinguished by 07.32am and a joint fire and police investigation was launched to establish the cause of the fire.
Investigating officer Martin Avent said: “Crews did well in extremely hot and arduous conditions. It is thanks to their hard work and professionalism that this fire did not spread further.
“A full investigation will take place to establish the cause of the fire.”
