A TEENAGE girl was sexually assaulted in a Suffolk village in the early hours of this morning.

The incident took place in Hasketon, on Church Road at the junction with Shrubbery Road. It was reported at about 1am this morning.

The 17-year-old had been sitting at the junction when a male approached her and then sexually assaulted her.

The area around the junction has been cordoned off and an investigation has been launched.

Police officers are appealing for any witnesses to come forward to assist them with their inquiries.

The investigation is in its early stages and officers are working closely with the victim to establish what happened.
