MORE tributes have been paid to a teenage driver who died when her car was in a head-on crash.

Charmaine Philips died at the scene of the accident on the A131 between Broad Road and Marks Farm roundabouts in Braintree.

Charmaine, of Appletree Walk in Braintree, had been driving a white Ford Ranger which was involved in a collision with a red Rover 100 at 9.30pm on Monday.

The Notley High School pupil died at the scene of the accident in which two of her passengers, a 17-year-old girl and a 19-year-old girl, both suffered serious injuries.

Today, tributes to Charmaine have been appearing on a memorial website.

One, from a friend, read: “Charmaine where do I begin, words can't describe how I'm feeling right now.

“You were always so happy, cheerful and smiley and that is how you will be remembered.

“I'm sure from up there you will take good care of us and be watching.

“I'm going too miss you so much, but I will always have the good memories with you.”

Another said: “I keep picturing your smile, I think it's just starting to hit me and it's not fair.

“I went to your memorial. So many people turned up - you were such a loved, special person and you're going to be missed so much.

“You are a tragic loss to us all.... sleep peacefully babe xx.”

The 17-year-old passenger in Charmaine's vehicle is currently in a critical condition and the 19-year-old is in a serious but stable condition in Broomfield hospital, Chelmsford.

The driver of the Rover, a 27-year-old man from Sudbury, was also taken hospital after suffering bruising to his arms.

A section of the road was closed for six hours while Essex Police accident investigators carried out an examination to try and establish the cause of the crash and clear the road of debris.
