Three engines were sent shortly after 4am this morning to Anchor Street, where a fire had started in a single storey bin store.
Firefighters tackled the flames and declared the area safe at around 4.45am after checking the flats for smoke damage.
Crews from Princes Street and Colchester Road stations were earlier called to a car fire in Thackeray Road, Ipswich.
Firefighters were on scene for 15 minutes tackling the fire, which was reported at around 12.15am.
