A MAN is due to stand trial later this year in connection with the attempted murders of two serving police officers whose homes in north-east Essex were firebombed.

A MAN is due to stand trial later this year in connection with the attempted murders of two serving police officers whose homes in north-east Essex were firebombed.

The incidents happened on the morning of Saturday, January 28, 2006, in Clacton and Holland-on-Sea.

Wayne Taylor was arrested in June 2008 and subsequently charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of committing arson with intent to endanger life in connection with the police officers' two homes and a third unrelated charge of committing arson with intent to endanger life.

The 42-year-old unemployed man from Merrilees Crescent in Holland-on-Sea is currently remanded in court custody prior to his trial at the Old Bailey on Monday, August 24.
