TRAFFIC is flowing normally once again after a suspected wartime bomb discovered by workmen was declared as a false alarm.
The item was found in Colchester, at the entrance to Meeanee Barracks, at 1pm, triggering a road closure and major traffic delays.
Anglian Water contractors discovered what they thought was an ordinance as they worked in Mersea Road which was then closed in both directions along with Berechurch Road.
A bomb disposal team from Wimbish was called to deal with the incident and has declared the suspected bomb to be a false alarm with good intent and the road has been re-opened.
