A Bury St Edmunds theatre has released details of their Spring line-up to include plays from the Edinburgh Fringe, roaring dinosaurs onstage and even a comedy set from a Britain's Got Talent finalist.

Joining their jam-packed season, Theatre Royal are also staging their very own production of The Children, directed by their artistic director Owen Calvert-Lyons.

"We're proud to be creating The Children by Lucy Kirkwood - a truly brilliant sizzling drama that follows on from our 'Best Plays of the Last 10 Years' series with Home, I'm Darling in the Spring of 2022," said Mr Calvert-Lyons.

The in-house drama was nominated for 'Best Play' at the Tony Awards and hailed as one of the top three plays in The Guardian's 'Best Theatre Shows of the 21st Century' category.

Mr Calvert-Lyons added: "This season is filled with fantastic dramas, comedies, plays from the Edinburgh Fringe and three plays from our wonderful youth theatre groups.

"Along with a huge line-up of stand-up comedy and music, there really is something for everyone."

Stagings of familiar favourites of Brief Encounter and Arthur Miller's All My Sons will join a reading of a new text written by a playwright who has run scriptwriting groups in male prisons for the last 15 years.

From the Edinburgh Fringe, contemporary thriller SAP and Watson: The Final Problem will join Thelma and Louise style comedy SHEWOLVES.

Amongst the comedy offering sits a play about sitcom writing and Teechers Leavers '22 which follows three year 11 students facing a scary world.

The Theatre Royal Comedy Club will also be returning with comedians from the UK touring circuit alongside performances from Britain's Got Talent finalist Daliso Chaponda and TV favourite Lucy Porter.

For families, Dinosaur Adventure Live will see replica dinosaurs move and roar on stage with additional shows from Julia Donaldson and Pop Princesses.

Musical tributes to Moulin Rouge, Elton John, The Carpenters and Take That will join the dance selection from Ballet Central and Hazelwood Dance Studios.

Local amateur companies will also be staging Murder On The Nile and Shakespeare In Love.

In their series of community fundraiser events, there will be a wine quiz, a golf day, a night to showcase the magic of the musicals and a hidden gardens of Bury St Edmunds open event.
