He began karting at Anglia Indoor Karting in Ipswich, before moving to a larger outside track at Ellough Raceways in Beccles.

Euan said: "I just love the thrill of karting.

"You put your foot to the floor and go and overtake people and when you take corners and you spin out, it is just such a great feeling."

The championships next year will be Euan's first national tournament, racing against people up to 16 years old.

He said: It's quite exciting knowing that I get to travel around all these different places and race courses.

"It'll be great to say that I have done that.

Euan's dad Alex, said: "The good thing about the car community is there's a wide variety of people that go.

"He really gets to go and meet so many different people from around the UK and make friends which to me, as well as wanting him to win, the experience will be great as well."

In order to race at nationals, Euan has had to get his own car made, as well as kit and funding, a project which both Euan and Alex say is a father and son project.

Euan is currently fifth in the Junior Pro League, which includes racers as old as 17 and is sponsored by two Suffolk companies.

Ipswich Trade Centre, which has funded Euan's kit for next year, and Cory Brothers, a shipping and import company in Ipswich, which is sponsoring his tournament entrance fees.

Alex said: "It is so nice to see companies supporting someone local, and to me, that is really important and we couldn't thank them enough."
