Delighted Suffolk PR professionals are celebrating a storming performance at a sector awards event.

Fledgling PR business Satsuma Group of Woodbridge scooped the Small PR Consultancy of the Year title at the CIPR PRide Awards 2022 for Anglia, Thames and Chiltern while Ipswich's PLMR/Genesis was crowned PR Consultancy of the Year at the same event.

Satsuma also scooped gold in the Best Publication category for its work on The Hard Hat for building firm Anderson, a leading contractor in the East.

It was the second award in a week for the magazine - which also scooped an Award of Excellence in the Institute of Internal Comms Awards.

The publication was also a finalist at the national Construction Marketing Awards in the Best Stakeholder and Internal Communications category.

Satsuma boss Ellen Widdup said: “We have been blown away by our incredible award success in the last few weeks but the icing on the cake was being named the best agency of our size in the region.

“We have been running for just over a year and in that time we have built up an impressive team of incredible experts and a raft of exciting clients in a range of fascinating sectors.

“This award is testament to our hard work and dedication and the ambition and talent of our staff."

The firm had adopted a remote and flexible working model and this had paid dividends, she said.

“You can see the result of some of this work in the multi-award-winning Hard Hat magazine.”

PLMR/Genesis came top in the Best Use of Content, the Travel, Leisure or Tourism Campaign and the Integrated Campaign categories.

Train operator Greater Anglia took the Corporate and Communications Campaign and Community Relations Campaign titles while Colchester-based Big Wave PR scooped gold in the Consumer Relations Campaign and Best Event categories.

Andrew Jay, chief executive of Anderson - which entered the award jointly with Satsuma -  said the Hard Hat publication had been "ground-breaking".

“It’s constantly praised by the thousands of people who read it and I am immensely proud of the magazine and all it stands for,” he added.
