A Sudbury designer is taking remote working to the next level, by combining her full-time job for a Suffolk-based company with a round-the-world holiday of a lifetime.
Flo Rooke, who is employed by Sudbury-based Silver Monkey Marketing, will be spending the next 12 months working from far-flung locations such as Bali, Japan, South Africa, Peru and Brazil.
Ms Rooke spoke of her gratitude to her employers for allowing her the opportunity to adopt such a unique and flexible working style.
"I have always had a dream to travel around the world and experience different lifestyles and societies," said Ms Rooke.
"But to be able to do this, while still working in a job I love, really is a dream come true."
Ms Rooke has worked for Silver Monkey Marketing for six years and started her new flexible working style from Hanoi in Vietnam - a full 5,500 miles away from the Sudbury agency.
While unorthodox, company director Andy Glass said the decision was a no-brainer for such an invaluable member of staff.
"From the moment Flo started with us as an apprentice in 2016, she has impressed us with her can-do attitude and flair for design and client management," said Mr Glass.
"But we also knew that she had a dream to see the world. I think this became even more important to Flo after the events of the last few years."
He added: "The pandemic has also taught us all new ways of flexible and remote working - even on the other side of the world."
Under the unique arrangement, Ms Rooke will continue to work full-time and communicate with her colleagues based in Stour Valley Business Centre in Sudbury.
However, utilising a flexible working arrangement, she will be able to do so while visiting places such as Croatia, Spain and Portugal as part of her exciting global tour.
