With the winter months fast approaching, many people love meeting up with friends and family for coffee in a nice cosy café. 

Fortunately, Suffolk is spoilt with plenty of options, some of which have been named in the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards for 2022.  

Based on reviews and opinions from customers, these cafes have been highly rated on Tripadvisor for their service, quality, customer satisfaction, and more.

Here are the top seven independent places to visit in Suffolk that have been included in the review site's guide.

The Grazing Sheep 

Topping the list is the Grazing Sheep, which is located along the Ipswich Waterfront.

The owners love great food, and with more than 30 years of experience, they use premium local ingredients to cook their breakfasts.

The café was also named one of the best places to get a fry up in Ipswich. 

One happy customer said in a review: "Stopped in for brunch and maple bacon pancakes which were delicious. 

"Really friendly relaxing atmosphere and great coffee, my latte was beautiful."

The Green Room Cafe 

The Green Room Cafe, another Ipswich venue, has also been named in the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards for 2022.

East Anglian Daily Times:   

Tucked away close to the Ipswich Regent Theatre, the Green Room has a vintage vibe with red walls and dark furniture.

On Tripadvisor, one person said: "Staff are delightful and super efficient.

"Drinks are spot on as are the cakes and savoury offerings."

Cafe Myra

The independent café on St Nicholas Street is another popular destination for coffee lovers. 

Cafe Myra offers an all-day breakfast starting at £7.50. 

"Absolutely lovely little cafe," is how one happy customer described Cafe Myra.

The Stables Coffee Shop and Sandwich Bar

The dog-friendly café has also been named in the Tripadvisor Travellers' Choice Awards for 2022.  

The café is also hosting a Christmas craft fair this year. 

A wide variety of cakes and breakfast items are on offer.

Chilli and Chives

Located in the historic Suffolk village of Lavenham Chilli and Chives is a popular place for coffee lovers. 

"A local coffee shop which is excellent with good cakes," is how Chilli and Chives were described by a customer on Tripadvisor.

Cult Cafe Bar

Based on the Ipswich Waterfront, Cult Cafe is a perfect place to stop off for a hot drink on a winter's day.

Bands can also be seen performing inside Cult Cafe, which stays open late on Fridays and Saturdays.

Cafe Marina

The Waterfront café has a four-star rating and serves a variety of breakfast items. 

One customer said on Tripadvisor: "Would definitely recommend one of the breakfasts, as the food is amazing."
