Winning £1,000 worth of sports equipment is set to help children at one Suffolk primary school try more unusual sports and meet a professional Team GB athlete.

Orford Primary School is the recipient of our sports equipment for schools competition,  after collecting more tokens from our papers than any other school in Suffolk.

Over the last few years, we have given over £100,000 worth of equipment to schools through the East Anglian Daily Times and Ipswich Star.

This year, a total of 259,297 tokens across all schools in Suffolk were collected.

Gemma Cannon, acting headteacher at Orford Primary School said: "We were delighted to win the sports for schools competition and are very grateful to all the members of the community who came together to collect the vouchers.

"Our children are keen, active sports people and are always asking to try new, unusual and more challenging activities, so this win will help make that a reality for them.

"Not only will they be able to use the new equipment, but the chance to meet a professional athlete will be inspiring for them."
