The owner of a new dessert and milkshake bar in Bury St Edmunds says he is "filling a gap" with his new shop in the town centre.

Ben Hutton, the owner of Queen's Bar & Grill, is opening his new venture Crumbs in Lower Baxter Street on Friday.

The 30-year-old got the keys to the unit in mid-October and has spent the last few weeks converting it into an extravagant store to sell sweet treats.

East Anglian Daily Times:

Crumbs is ready to open on Black Friday, with Mr Hutton hoping the busy pre-Christmas shopping period will attract plenty of hungry customers.

The business originally spawned from Queen's selling cheesecakes and other desserts in the Covid lockdown.

East Anglian Daily Times:

Mr Hutton said he was on the lookout for a separate store for desserts as demand grew over time.

The new shop will be open from Thursday to Sunday every week and has hired a small team of staff.

Mr Hutton said: "It is looking really good and quirky. We want to keep things unique and really stand out in the town.

East Anglian Daily Times:

"There's nowhere you can really go for desserts in Bury St Edmunds, so we are filling a gap.

"It's exciting but I'm also a bit nervous. It's always a bit daunting when starting a new business but it's come together exactly how I wanted it do.

East Anglian Daily Times:

"If you're doing something a bit different, you really want to stand out. There's nowhere else like this."
