From pantomimes to ice rinks and Christmas Day swims, there's plenty of great festive events going on in Suffolk this December.

Here's seven big events to get you into the Christmas spirit.

1. Ipswich Regent Theatre's Peter Pan pantomime

Where: Ipswich Regent Theatre, St Helen's Street, Ipswich IP4 1HE

Price: Tickets from £15

The Regent's Christmas pantomime this year is Peter Pan, featuring EastEnders' Matt Lapinskas, West End legend Darren Day and returning star and comedy favourite Mike ‘Squeaky’ McClean.

The show is set to run for two and a half hours, including a 20-minute interval.

2. Felixstowe's traditional Christmas Day dip in the sea

Where: Felixstowe seafront

This year's swim will be the 18th time the Christmas Day Dip has been held in Felixstowe, with hundreds of people taking part over the years.

It is one of the key fundraising events for St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich.

3. The Legend of Robin Hood at Bury St Edmunds' Theatre Royal

When: November 25 - January 14

Where: Theatre Royal, Westgate Street, Bury St Edmunds IP33 1QR

Price: Tickets from £10.50

Over in Bury St Edmunds at the Theatre Royal is The Legend of Robin Hood pantomime, which is running until mid-January.

There are a number of dates reserved for relaxed performances, which are designed to be special educational needs and dementia-friendly.

4. Popular ice rink returns to Felixstowe

Where: Great Eastern Square, Felixstowe IP11 7DY

Last year's ice rink in Felixstowe proved a hit among visitors to the seaside town, and organisers have confirmed it will be back for one day in December.

It can be found off Hamilton Road, near the town centre.

5. Final makers' market of the year in Bury St Edmunds

When: December 4

Where: Cornhill, Bury St Edmunds IP33 1BE

As part of Bury St Edmunds' Christmas line-up, the final makers' market of 2022 will take place in the town centre.

More than 70 makers, bakers, brewers and artists will pitch up in the town alongside a food court with mulled wine and music.

6. Ipswich ice rink coming to the Cornhill

When: December 8 - December 15

Where: Cornhill, Ipswich IP1 1DH

Ipswich's catalogue of festive events also includes an ice rink, which will be set up on the Cornhill for just over a week in December.

It comes after the town's Christmas lights were switched on earlier this month.

7. Traditional Bury Christmas Eve market returns

When: December 24

Where: Cornhill, Bury St Edmunds IP33 1BE

Bury St Edmunds' Christmas Fayre may not have been held for a number of years, but the Christmas Eve market will still be held in case people need a last-minute gift.

Fresh fruit and vegetables for the big day will also be on sale.
