Planning permission has been granted to build more than 270 new homes in Hadleigh, with the scheme being projected to bring in £3.5million in community benefits.

Persimmon Homes has secured permission to deliver their 'Rose Manor' project which will see 273 new homes built off Benton Street.

Construction will begin in the next few weeks and the developers say they've built in a range of community benefits to improve local facilities and employment opportunities.

The company believes the plans will "support the local need for quality new housing", with over a third of the new homes being transferred to a housing association, providing a mix of rented, shared ownership and discount market value properties.

Rose Manor will be sold under Persimmon Homes' sister brand Charles Church, which offers upmarket, luxury homes in desirable locations.

The one-, two-, three-, four-and five-bedroom houses are described as "a new home in an ancient market town with beautiful countryside on the doorstep".

Ian Hamilton, managing director for Persimmon Homes Suffolk, said: "This is a hugely exciting development to begin work on.

"Our planning approval also includes 5.5 hectares of employment land which allow for the creation of significant employment opportunities for Hadleigh and the surrounding area as well leaving lasting community benefits.

"Construction will commence in the coming weeks, enabling us to deliver a range of one-, two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom properties to suit a wide range of local buyers."

The scheme is also projected to bring in £3.5m in community benefits, including education, libraries, employment and biodiversity.

It will also bring in almost £200,000 towards upgrades to local sports facilities and neighbourhood play provision in the local area.

Persimmon Homes is providing around £50,000 for highway improvements on nearby Benton Street.

Hadleigh was named one of the best places to live in the UK by Garrington property experts earlier this year.

The Suffolk market town was ranked eighth in judging which considered factors such as access to superfast broadband, physical environment, quality of living, going green, architecture and heritage.
