Plans for 20 homes on a former nursery site have been recommended for approval, despite controversy over the 'unacceptable' density of the proposed development.

An outline planning application for the vacant site in Snow Hill, Clare, is set for approval at the next West Suffolk Council planning meeting on Wednesday, December 7.

The development would feature a mix of two-storey and single-storey homes, including six affordable properties.

Clare Town Council has previously voiced concerns over the "unacceptable" density of the development, also raising infrastructure issues such as highway safety and a lack of GP capacity.

The Suffolk County Council infrastructure manager has detailed that contributions should be made toward library improvement and waste management.

The service requirements also extend to education where it is suggested that three secondary school places and one sixth form place is covered in the way of a £100,000 contribution.

The recommendation for approval added: "The Highway Authority is satisfied that a safe access and crossing can be provided to facilitate access for all."
