A Suffolk man has transformed his house into a winter wonderland with LED lights, music and video, and you won't believe how much it costs to run for an evening.

To start up the Christmas decorations at John Cornwall's house in Great Cornard you have to press a big red button which sets off the lights and music.

Along with the music, Mr Cornwall has put up a matrix pannel which shows videos.

Mr Cornwall explained how he set up the decorations and how much it costs to run.

He said: "Everyone asks me if it is expensive to run.

"To build it is my hobby, and yes it is potentially expensive to build it, but once it is built it is reusable and to run it for an evening is about 30p.

"The lights are LED, they are flashing, they are not on all the time and they are low voltage so they are cheap.

"It costs more money to boil your kettle then it is to have the lights on."

Mr Cornwall is also using the decorations as a way of raising money for the charity EACH.

If you wish to donate before pressing the big red button there is a contactless card reader.

Mr Cornwall, who has always had an interest in lights and electronics, said he got the idea for the decorations when he visited DisneyLand and saw the Osbourne Christmas Lights display.

He added: "About three years ago I found a Facebook group where they use LED lights which are cheaper and you can tell them what to do and you can synchronize to music."

East Anglian Daily Times:

The setting up of the Christmas lights took Mr Cornwall about two weeks and he said there were some more features waiting to be put up.

Anyone visiting the display is asked to be respectful of neighbours and use the visitor car park near Sudbury Rugby Club.
