Bikers from around Suffolk and Essex put on their festive costumes as 25 Santas and Elves delivered toys to a hospital children's ward.

Forever Two Wheels organised their first Christmas Toy Run from Clacton to Colchester, with all bikers involved wearing their best festive costumes.

The group set out from Full Throttle Cafe in Clacton in the early hours of Sunday, December 11, when the temperature was into minus figures.

April Scott, the event organiser, said: "We raise money with events all throughout the year.

"We wanted to do something for Christmas and our friends at Full Throttle suggested doing a toy bike ride to the hospital.

"We put it all together and put an event on Facebook and everyone was very kind in giving us donations.

"People were turning up with half-full bags of toys and sending me money to go and buy toys.

"We ended up having two car fulls of toys for the children's ward at Colchester Hospital.

"When we took them down it was just brilliant and really heartwarming."

Forever Two Wheels have previously done events around Suffolk and Essex, including a 300 bikers-strong ride around the M25 after Queen Elizabeth II passed away.

Toy runs happen all around the country, but this is the first for the group.

Ms Scott continued: "A lot of people look at bikers and think, big, hairy and scary.

"But when you see a load of them all dressed as Santas it is absolutely fabulous.

"We had people recording on their phones as they were going past and the reactions they got were amazing.

"They were all just laughing and smiles on their face and it was just brilliant to see."

The toys have now gone to the children's unit at Colchester Hospital.

Ms Scott said: "We met the staff members and they were overwhelmed with what we had brought."

In total, they reckon there were over 100 toys going to the hospital.
