5 of the best places to go for a winter walk in Suffolk

Here's a selection of our favourite places for a winter walk in our county.

Framlingham Castle

This 12th century castle, made internationally famous by local boy Ed Sheeran, makes for a great picture when the snow has settled.

There are plenty of open spaces to walk around the castle, with plenty of parking spaces nearby in Framlingham town centre.

Nowton Park

When the snow settles in Nowton Park, you can see huge trails of white for hundreds of metres.

The park is about 200 acres in size and is a great place to explore on a wintry day.

Snape Marshes

Famous Suffolk composer Benjamin Britten used the Snape Marshes nature reserve as inspiration in his work, marvelling over the skies, golden reeds and water.

The site is almost 20 hectares in size and is a short drive from the A12.

The sun rising over the waves in the early hours is a sight to behold, with the lack of people in the mornings bringing a calming atmosphere.

Being by the seaside might also bring a windy chill – so make sure to wrap up extra warm.

Lackford Lakes

This wildlife oasis with a landscape of lakes, reeds, meadow and woodland can be found just north of Bury St Edmunds.

Suffolk Wildlife Trust says it is one of the best places in the county to see kingfishers, dragonflies and ducks up close and personal.
