The RSPCA is caring for nine cats that were abandoned in the middle of a field in east Suffolk.
A member of the public found the mum and eight kittens from various litters in cages in Bramfield, near Halesworth, on Wednesday, November 30.
The RSPCA Mid Norfolk and North Suffolk Branch, based in Ashwellthorpe, said the animals were underweight, covered in fleas and appeared to have glitter glue on them.
They have been named after Santa’s reindeer and are now safe and receiving care to ensure they are happy and healthy before the RSPCA branch finds them a new home.
Chloe Shorten, head of animal welfare for the RSPCA branch, said: "We understand it’s a difficult and scary time for many people due to the cost of living crisis and unfortunately rescue centres are inundated so we are having to prioritise the most needy to come into our care.
"We can help in other ways however such as with welfare vouchers, food bank parcels or education."
