A Suffolk mum-of-two who died after being stabbed in her home in Australia on Boxing Day has been described as "amazing" as more tributes are paid.

Emma Lovell, originally from Ipswich died as a result of a fatal stab wound after an incident at her home in Whitfield Crescent, North Lakes, Queensland.

Friends from Suffolk and Australia have paid tribute to Mrs Lovell, describing her as someone with "a heart of gold" and with a beautiful smile.

Family friend Skyle Fleming, 14, paid tribute to Mrs Lovell and described her as "amazing".

She told 7News: "She was always a good mum, she was always laughing, always smiling – she was always there to support her daughters throughout everything."

A spokesman for Queensland Police said officers received reports that a man and woman allegedly disturbed two people inside their home and a "scuffle" broke out on the front porch.

Emergency services attempted to treat Mrs Lovell, but she later died as a result of a stab wound to the chest.

Mrs Lovell's husband, 43-year-old Lee Lovell, was treated for a non-life-threatening stab wound and was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.

He has since been released from the hospital.

The couple, who have two children, are originally from Suffolk, and have reportedly lived in Australia for more than a decade.

On his return from hospital Mr Lovell told reporters that his family was "devastated".

In a tribute he said: "Emma was the glue to our family.

"She was such a beautiful person. We’re all just devastated from her loss.

“It’s senseless. I don’t know what people do it for.”

Superintendent John Hallam, from Moreton Police, told reporters Mr and Mrs Lovell were “disturbed inside the dwelling and were defending their house” at 11.30pm on Monday when they confronted the teenagers.

Two 17-year-old boys have both been charged with one count each of murder, attempted murder and entering a dwelling with intent in company.

Both have been denied police bail and are due to appear in the Brisbane Children's Court.

A 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy continue to assist police with inquiries.

A fundraiser set up for the Lovell family had raised nearly £25,000 pounds by 7am on Wednesday.
