US giant Taco Bell could be expanding into a west Suffolk town if their proposals are given the green light by the local council.

A full planning application has been submitted by T Bello Group Limited, the organisation behind Taco Bell, for a new restaurant in 47 High Street, Haverhill.

The application requests permission to advertise from Friday, February 17 this year until the same date in 2028.

If given the green light, the restaurant will become the third Taco Bell in Suffolk, following the approval of applications in Ipswich and Lowestoft.

The premises was previously occupied by Lloyds Bank but currently lies empty after the closure of betting shop William Hill.

It is proposed that the business would be open between 11am and 11pm each day of the week and employ ten full-time staff and ten part-time staff.

The planning statement adds: "Stressing that the application premises is currently vacant and has been for some time, the proposed mixed restaurant and hot food takeaway use will make a positive contribution to the vitality and viability of Haverhill town centre, including its evening economy."
