Proposals have been submitted for five detached family homes, alongside land where permission has recently been given for nine new dwellings.

A planning application has been submitted to West Suffolk Council for the development of five detached family homes at Cherry Tree Gardens in Beck Row.

If approved, the plans will see the demolition of the existing bungalow to make way for the five four-bedroom dwellings, garages and parking spaces.

The site is situated on the western side of Beck Row and is surrounded by residential developments.

The applicant believes that there is no affordable housing requirement due to the small size of the development, despite the fact that nine new homes were given the go-ahead on an adjacent site under different ownership two years ago.

The proposals add that the sequence of planning applications was not an attempt to "avoid an affordable housing requirement, and it is merely a coincidence that the two sites are adjacent to each other."
