A woman in her 80s has died in hospital after a serious three-vehicle crash on the A12.
Officers were called to the London-bound carriageway near Chelmsford just after 8pm on Tuesday, January 3.
There were three cars involved in the crash - a white Toyota Hiace van, a Vauxhall Zafira and a gold Ford Eco-Sport.
One of the passengers in the Vauxhall Zafira - an 83-year-old woman - died in hospital this week.
Officers in the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate the crash.
Anyone with any information is being asked to contact Essex Police quoting the incident number 1137 of January 3.
