A Suffolk pub which has been closed for over a year is set to reopen this spring.

The Badingham White Horse has been taken over by the Lowestoft pub chain Moss & Co.

The company was due to move into the pub last year but the takeover fell through after complications.

Operations manager at Moss & Co, Adam Vass, said: "We are super excited. About a year ago we were set to go in but then there was a few hurdles to jump from the other side that needed sorting out so initially we had to pull out.

"We thought we had missed the boat but always harboured hope and over the last few weeks that hope has become a dream."

Mr Vass said it was the pub's charm and ideal location that attracted the company.

He understood that it was a difficult time to be opening a pub, but believed it had all the attributes to be a success.

Mr Vass added: "There was something about the pub that we just fell in love with; it is in a great location, idyllic setting and the response so far has been really positive as well from the local community.

"The pub is like a Hollywood setting if an American producer wants a traditional country pub then this would be the one they'd choose.

"Pubs are so important at the moment as they are a hub of the community."

The company has also posted a pair of adverts looking for chefs and front of house staff.

Mr Vass said the pub should be open by Spring.

He added: "In an ideal world I would like to say around Easter weekend but we will know closer to the time as we have decorators coming to take a look this weekend."
