Bessie, a 17-year-old Yorkie cross, is looking for her forever home in Suffolk.

She went into the care of the RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch after her owner could no longer look after her.

Staff at the branch are now hoping to find the perfect retirement home after the amount she has been through in such a short space of time.

Just recently she had to say goodbye to her companion/sister, and is struggling with adapting to being left completely along for the first time in a long time.

Zoe Barrett-Lamb, animal centre manager, said: “Bessie is the sweetest and cheekiest little lady, who absolutely loves being in the company of people, lapping up all the love and affection that she can get.

“We know she’s an older girl and so taking her on is a big ask for a potential adopter - but it would be so wonderful for her to have a home to call her own where she will feel safe and loved for her golden years.

“She loves to spend the day snoozing away on her comfy bed, eating some tasty snacks and having a quick play with her favourite toys. She is ideally looking for owners who are around most of the time, as she does struggle with being left alone.

“Bessie takes pain medication and joint supplements, which will need to be continued in her new home to ensure that her golden years are spent comfortably and pain free. She will also need a calm, quiet home and limited exercise.”

As an older dog Bessie needs a home where she can spend the day snoozing and cuddling and staff are hoping they can find just that for her.
