Proposals have been put forward to build a five-acre leisure centre in a Suffolk village, complete with a tennis dome, outside pool and spa facilities.

Gym company David Lloyd Leisure has applied for permission to build their new project on a five acre site in Fornham All Saints.

The proposed designs for the new leisure club include plenty of swimming options, including a five-lane internal pool, outdoor leisure pool and children's splash play zone.

It also details a three-court tennis air dome, three padel tennis courts, a battle box facility and another multi-use court.

Under 'health and fitness', the plans detail a three-court sports hall, a 100-120 station gym, four studio spaces for exercise classes and a children's soft play and activity space.

If approved, the leisure club would also have the benefit of spa facilities, including a pool, sauna and steam rooms and an external spa garden.

The design and access statement adds: "The brief from David Lloyd was for a premium facility that delivers a range of active and leisure pursuits for the whole community."

Provisions have also been made for a cafe bar, dining area and 225 car spaces and 20 cycle spaces for customers and staff.

The site location lies east of the Chase Road Industrial Estate and is also south of a site currently being developed as a new residential area.

The design and access statement adds: "The proposed site landscaping has been designed to allow the proposed development to assimilate into the existing landscape and minimise its impact on surrounding views."

David Lloyd Leisure also operates a health club at Ransomes Europark on the outskirts of Ipswich.

If approved, this latest expansion would join the gym company's portfolio as their 103rd site in the UK.
