A 20-year-old has released his first book, seven years after he began chronicling his fight against leukaemia.

Jake Andrade, from Stowmarket, has released 'My Leukaemia Fight', which tells the story of his life since being diagnosed with acute mild leukaemia in 2016.

Over the last seven years, Mr Andrade has gone through university and was in remission until it came back in December 2021.

The book was due to be released sooner, but when Mr Andrade relapsed, he extended the book to include this period of his life.

The book is 624 pages long, contains 195,000 words and went through 13 drafts before it was published.

Mr Andrade said: "I am really excited for the book to come out.

"It's taken a long time, and I didn't think it would take this long, but it feels so good to finally be at this stage."

A book launch is planned for Stowmarket Community Centre at 5pm on Friday, March 3.

Mr Andrade said: "I know nothing about book launches, so I am just going to go for it.

"It'll be nice having everyone together."
