Plans for a £100,000 'playscape' youth centre in Woodbridge have been submitted to East Suffolk Council.

Jetty Lane CIO, a charity which has been on a mission to provide new facilities for young people, is looking to create the play area with new youth and business hubs at either end.

The project has been in the works since the town's youth centre was demolished in 2016.

Jetty Lane says the aim is to provide a purpose-built, sustainabe space for children and young people in the Woodbridge area and become a leading youth hub for creativity and culture.

Proposals for the youth centre 'playscape' are said to be different to a traditional playground as it would be a part of the natural environment and provide opportunities for "free, unstructured play designed to stimulate the imagination".

Earlier this year, Jetty Lane became one of 10 charities across Suffolk and Norfolk involved with the Cash for Charity scheme.

An initiative run by The Gannett Foundation, the charitable arm of the parent company of Newsquest Media Group - which owns the EADT and the Ipswich Star.

The charity is hoping to raise £100,000 for the playscape with the money from Cash for Charity providing a start.
