A man from Suffolk is set to take on a 100km ultra-challenge from London to Brighton to raise awareness for two heart conditions he was diagnosed with a few years back.

Jason Curtis, owner of Ear View, which has clinics in Ipswich, Needham Market and Stowmarket, will take this challenge on to raise money for British Heart Foundation, after having a heart scare in 2019.

After doing a calm day of Christmas shopping in November 2019, his wife had to call 999 as Mr Curtis was struggling with chest pains that were not subsiding.

After receiving multiple tests, Mr Curtis was diagnosed with Myocarditis and Pericarditis.

These are two conditions which are still 'under researched', but it is a condition that causes inflammation to the heart.

Mr Curtis said he wants to raise money but also awareness for these largely unknown conditions.

"I am raising money for British Heart Foundation as it is a charity close to me due to my personal experiences back in 2019," Mr Curtis said.

"I decided to take on this challenge as I like to push myself and have always liked the idea of trying the London to Brighton ultra-challenge.

"I have completed a couple of smaller charity walks before, like the local Orwell walk which is 25 miles, but this new challenge is much further and will be more demanding.

"I am really looking forward to the challenge and the support and comments I have received from family, friends and my patients in my clinics around Suffolk at work have been amazing."

The 100km London to Brighton challenge takes place across two days on May 27 and 28.

Mr Curtis has set up a JustGiving page to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation.
