A Bury St Edmunds gin connoisseur has created a new offering named Wide Dog, affectionately named after his porky puppy, to sell in his new converted horse box bar.
Jasper Baker, 24, was born and raised in Bury St Edmunds and says his interest in the industry started seven years ago when he started working for Adnams.
"I used to do gin-making sessions with customers and I was always interested in the history," he said.
"I started doing it as a hobby and taking it to friend's houses as gifts and for Christmas."
After receiving positive feedback saying his gin was worth paying for, Mr Baker decided to start scaling up his production.
With so many bars in the area, he wanted to try something "a little different" and has just finished converting a horse box into a mobile bar.
"My bar might be small, but it's full of heart," said Mr Baker.
"After Covid, people started doing more outside, so it fits in perfectly at so many different types of events."
Mr Baker has even developed his own special brand of gin, named Wide Dog, in an affectionate nod to three-year-old porky pup Beau.
"He's the family dog, but he really belongs to my sister," he said.
"Allegedly, he's a Pomeranian mixed with a Chihuahua, but I think we were missold on that front."
Wide Dog is a reference to Beau's plump shape, as he eats "in sight" and is apparently very pleased to be acting as Mr Baker's brand ambassador.
The gin itself is designed to have a citrus kick, full of zesty, zingy flavours.
"I'm looking to make new products and even have a limoncello almost ready to go," added Mr Baker.
"I've put so much hard work into this, so I'd love for it to take off."
