On the opportunity to go and study in America, he said: "It's quite a good feeling.

"It's something I have wanted to do for quite a while.

"It gives you the closest experience to being a professional footballer and training like one.

"At the same time it provides a very good education so it's just a win-win really."

Taylor, who has been playing club football for eleven years, said it will be "very different" living in America compared to Coggeshall, where he currently lives.

He said: "This scholarship can open pathways to potentially play in the MLS, but it also gives you a good degree, so it really does set you up for the future."

Taylor has started a GoFundMe page to help raise money to cover travel and tuition costs for his time out there.
