One countryside pub has been named among the five best in the country by a national magazine.

In its upcoming issue, GQ will reveal the winners of its Food and Drink Awards for 2023 after an awards ceremony in London.

Different categories include 'best restaurant', 'best chef', 'best hotel' and many more.

In the 'best pub' category, The Unruly Pig in Bromeswell, near Woodbridge, was one of just five establishments to make the shortlist.

This comes just weeks after it was named as one of the best pubs in the UK by The Telegraph and was recognised for its "good food and quirkiness".

It also scooped the Taste of East of England award at the East of England Tourism Awards 2022-2023.

Ahead of the GQ awards ceremony, a post on The Unruly Pig Facebook page read:"We are honoured and excited to be on the shortlist for 'Best Pub' at the GQ Food and Drink Awards, in London tomorrow evening.

"The very best of luck to all who have been shortlisted in these lovely awards, especially our fellow nominees: The Baring, The Barley Mow, The Dog And Gun and Double Red Duke.

"We are thrilled to be in such auspicious company and look forward to seeing you there."

Earlier this year the pub was unable to retain its crown but it was named as the second best gastro pub in the UK by Estrella Damn.
