An application has been made to turn a grain store at a Suffolk farm into two new homes.

The building was originally built as a grain store but was most recently used for storage as part of the farming business, at Stanway Green Farm in Worlingworth, near Woodbridge.

The plans include converting the building into two four-bedroom bungalows.

The building currently has a steel frame with brick walls and a concrete floor, "structurally sound and stable and suitable for conversion to domestic use", according to the structural engineer report.

It is expected that the houses would include an open-plan kitchen, dining and living, with a section of the frame being used to provide a covered parking area.

The application seeks to establish whether prior approval is needed for the change of use.

It was made on behalf of Horvat Farms Limited, based at Ivy House in Stanway Green, Worlingworth, on March 31.

The farming business is made up of around 220 acres of agricultural land.

A decision is expected from Mid Suffolk District Council by May 29.
