From cafés to vast arrays of plants lining the shelves, garden centres are a great place to visit. 

We asked our readers where there favourites are, and here are seven of the most popular. 

1. Garnetts Garden

One of the most popular among our readers was Garnetts Garden near Woodbridge. 

The Hacheston-based business was founded nearly 30 years ago and boasts a vast array of plants and garden tools for keen our green-fingered readers. 

As well as the garden centre, there is also a farm shop, café and caravan site.

2. Chedburgh Plant Centre

The family run business has become well-established in west Suffolk. 

Located near Bury St Edmunds, Chedburgh Plant Centre has been selling plants, shrubs and pots since the 1980s. 

The garden centre is open Monday to Saturday.

3. Bourne Garden Centre 

Located on the outskirts of Ipswich, Bourne Garden Centre was another popular choice among our readers. 

Open seven days a week, they cater for all needs, selling everything from your traditional plants to sheds and furniture.

4. Perrywood

After being taken over by Alan and Karin Bourne in 2018, the Sudbury garden centre has become a popular destination for gardeners. 

The Bourne family added the branch to the independent chain five years ago, and now sell garden plants and outdoor furniture. 

As well as the garden and indoor plants, there is also a café on site.

5. Perfect Perennials

Situated in the heart of Suffolk, several readers suggested Perfect Perennials in Earl Stonham as their favourite.

Thousands of plants are available to purchase from hundreds of different varieties.

6. Kiln Farm Nursery

Having farmed on the land as a family for nearly 100 years, Ruth Goudy and her husband started the nursery at the start of this century. 

The Kesgrave gardening experts have become one of the go-to places in Suffolk for tips since opening in 2002. 

Open Monday to Saturday, there is also a coffee shop and farm shop on site.

7. Woolpit Nurseries 

Woolpit Nurseries was another popular choice amongst our readers. 

Run by Pam and Bob Jackson, the centre has been serving the Suffolk gardening community since 1978. 

Keen gardeners will find themselves lost for hours as they sort through the huge array of plants and garden furniture.
