West Suffolk Hospital's stroke care team are taking a 13,000ft skydive plummet while their ratings soar for a continual five years.

West Suffolk Hospital's stroke team achieved the highest score of any Acute Admitting Stroke unit in late 2022, maintaining their 'A' rating for nearly five years in a row.

Lead stroke consultant Dr Abul Azim praised the team's "wonderful culture" which provides the "best possible care" for their patients.

He added: "We are all proud of this achievement and are working hard for our patients to keep making improvements."

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust chief executive Dr Ewen Cameron said the maintained rating is "a truly astonishing achievement", adding: "To reach the standard to receive an A rating and then to retain it for nearly five years is absolutely amazing and a testament to the hard work and dedication of every single memeber of the stroke care team."

In celebration of their high-flying ratings, a group of doctors, nurses and security staff from the stroke care team will be partaking in a charity sky dive.

They hope their 13,000ft plummet will help purchase equipment to help stroke patients.
