The boss of a new £3.5m storage facility and business centre taking shape in Stowmarket says it is "very exciting" to see it nearing completion.

Squab Storage is set to open a 32,000sq ft complex at Atex Business Park in July.

The centre will cater for domestic and business clients and act as a hub for a range of companies.

East Anglian Daily Times:

Bury St Edmunds MP Jo Churchill welcomed the major investment as she met the team that will run it and was given a tour of the site.

Squab Storage - which is based in Warwickshire - has centres in Leamington, Evesham and Rubery in the West Midlands but wants to expand into the East of England.

Its current sites are home to more than 200 businesses across the three sites.

The Stowmarket centre could be home to more than 100 small and growing businesses.

Squab director Alex Henney - who is originally from near Framlingham - said: “It was excellent to welcome Jo Churchill to our new site in Stowmarket and discuss our plans for the future.

“We have been looking to expand into the East of England for some time, so it is very exciting to see the site nearing completion.

“Our storage facilities are used by domestic customers requiring extra space for anything from decluttering or moving house to those expanding a hobby or living between locations.

“We also cater for businesses and have a large variety of firms who trade from our centres, ranging from professional services and leisure to engineering and health and beauty, who use their units as office spaces, business hubs and fulfilment bases.

“Some even have customer-facing operations at our sites, including a barber shop, golf simulator and even a swimming coaching and training business.

“We now look forward to meeting with businesses across Stowmarket as we prepare to officially launch this summer. I am originally from this part of the world so it is great to be bringing fresh investment to the area and we have been delighted by the reaction to the news.”

Ms Churchill was shown around the main building which is currently undergoing an internal fit-out.

"It was fantastic to meet with the Squab team and hear more about their exciting plans at Atex Business Park," she said.

"Squab is making a significant investment in Stowmarket, and this facility will supply safe and secure storage options for customers and also provide businesses across the area with professional, flexible work spaces that can be adapted to meet their needs and will also support growth.

“We have a strong business community in the area, and the complex will be a positive addition to the area. I look forward to its opening in July.”
