A man and a woman both in their 80s suffered serious injuries after a crash in a Suffolk village. 

Emergency services were callled to the single-vehicle crash, on the A143 in Great Barton, at about 4pm on Sunday. 

The vehicle was driving towards Bury St Edmunds before the crash happened on the righ-hand bend of the single carriageway road.

Two people had to be rescued from inside the vehicle.

A man and a woman, both aged in their 80s, suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital where they remain in a stable condition.  

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said two ambulances and two ambulance officer vehicles were sent to the crash. 

"Two patients were transported to West Suffolk Hospital for further assessment and care," the spokesman added.
