Delays on the A14 are set to last until summer 2024, it has been confirmed.
Work began between between junctions 47a and 49 near Stowmarket earlier in the year.
The scheme has seen National Highways reconstructing and replacing the road surface between Haughley and Tothill.
A contraflow system has been implemented in recent weeks as works continues to progress with signs stating that delays are possible until summer 2024.
On Friday, National Highways confirmed that the signs were accurate.
A spokesperson said: "The A14 junction 47a Haughley to 49 Tothill reconstruction scheme is scheduled for completion in summer 2024.
"Decades of use and hundreds of millions of journeys had left this stretch of the A14 in need of vital upgrades, which will improve safety, create a smoother surface and reduce noise for drivers who travel on this route. "
The scheme has cost £37million and will also see the replacement of kerbs and safety barriers along with new road markings and reflective road studs.
