An appeal to find a beloved dog has spawned a 3,000-strong army of "angels" still searching for him nearly six weeks after he was reported missing.

12-year-old springer spaniel Digby was last seen by his owner on April 15 in Banham, Norfolk.

His owner, Vicki Kerr, has been looking for her friend since then and has amassed a huge following of helpers across Suffolk and Norfolk.

She said: "I’ve had him since he was an eight-week-old puppy.

"On that Saturday, he was in my garden when I heard a loud noise.

"Digby probably got spooked by the noise and just shot off but I didn’t see him running away."

Ms Kerr added that the public response to her actions to find her dog has been huge.

"I've got 2,800 people following the page I made about him being missing on Facebook, and everywhere I go, people are looking out for him, offering help. It's just been incredible.

"Unfortunately, we've had lots of sightings, but nothing definite about Digby."

The single mum-of-two said she has not had an easy time recently, but the help from strangers, who she calls Digby’s Angels, has built her up.

She added: "I'm at a stage where I need closure. I need to know where my dog is."
