A Colchester man who breached a restraining order by repeatedly trying to contact his pregnant former partner has been jailed for 12 months.

Troy Webster was released from prison on January 16 this year and ten days later he began ringing her mobile phone saying he was sorry and wanted to be in her life, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

He told he was going to stop drinking and wanted to change which was what he had told his former partner on previous occasions, said Michael Crimp, prosecuting.

“It was a familiar plea,” said Mr Crimp.

In the days that followed the victim received several calls from Webster and messages including him telling her he “loved her to bits” and needed her “more than anything”.

He’d also left her a message saying: “I’m going to the M25 to jump off,” said Mr Crimp.

Webster, 26, of Mersea Road, Colchester, admitted breaching a restraining order which was made after he assaulted his former partner and possessing cannabis.

In addition to being jailed he was banned from contacting his former partner directly for ten years.

The court heard that Webster had taken a number of courses to better himself while he’d been in custody and the restraining order had been disregarded by the defendant and the victim.
